INNOVATION

Design Sprint
A design sprint was held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, with twenty-two participants in attendance. The design sprint was an intervention of the PAULESI CoE team to ensure that the students identified ideas they are passionate about and gain sufficient clarity to take advantage of the pre-incubation and incubation programmes.

The 2022 cohort of students were trained according to their programmes of study and exposed to the importance and process of innovation and solutions development. This programme-based approach was applied to ensure that each session was highly effective in enabling the students to unearth existing gaps and potential solutions in their field of study without distractions from members of other programmes as would have been the case in a general session. The 3-hour session for each field included moments for quick online research to identify existing solutions within the industry, brainstorming sessions to address problems, games to foster interaction, and training on the step-by-step process for developing a solution.

Innovation Challenge
PAULESI CoE & Greenstad Environmental Innovation Challenge (PENVIC22) which is the first of its kind in the institute. The innovation challenge which was held in partnership with a private stakeholder – Greenstad Projects Limited commenced with a kick-off event on Friday September 9, 2022 with twelve (12) teams from PAULESI and the University of Ibadan. The teams were mentored on prototyping, Human-Centred Design and storytelling which enabled them to refine their solutions to the problem of pollution caused during the production of Polyvinyl Chloride pipes.
